Accounting 4 Business, an evolving business

The company was formed in 2006 but didn't really start trading until 2007, when it started most of the work was consultancy work for Tekton (now part of Sage), this consisted of Systems Design and Specification, Workshops and Training in Microsoft Navision.

Then when the recession started to bite sales of systems dropped off and A4B moved into main stream accounting producing Accounts, Tax Returns, Self Assessments, Book Keeping, Payroll and Business Plans.

Over a 3 year period we built a client base of over 500 clients in almost every sector of business; Manufacturing, Hotels, Shops, Restaurants, Consultants and Construction and before becoming part of the Bright Star Group employed 6 full time staff and 4 part time.

The reason for becoming part of the Bright Star Group was growth, we reached capacity at our Lansdowne Offices and needed bigger premises also we needed working capital funding.

The business continues to grow by around 15 new clients a month.

I will continue to have a long term role within the group working on client liaison and business development but I am also able to do some work of my own as at the moment whilst the client base grows my role will be part time.

So I have a new consultancy business, Bicknell Business Advisers. This business will provide a range of services, a contract which is in the early stages is acting as a Bid Manager for Construction company in negotiations with Yeovil NHS.

BBA will also look to act as business mentor to SME businesses, we will specialise in business funding and are working closely with Lloyds TSB and Bartercard.
